Random IMA Trip...

This weekend I decided to take a trip to the Indianapolis Museum of Art. I've never been before but it is an amazing place to go. It's completely free! There were 3 floors of art and then a really cool garden area that you could walk through. Here's some of the pictures I took while I was there. Enjoy!

Well I took a few pictures of the flowers and such that were in the gardens. This was probably my favorite one. I've always been a fan of the closeup pictures. I like how in focus the bright pink is and the blurred out green I feel adds to it.

This bridge was pretty cool. I took a picture like this in high school. Except then I used the card catalog handles. Again I like the front part being in focus and the back being super blurred out. If I ever do senior pictures this would be a cool spot to do them.

This was a really cool painting in the art gallery. Took a while to get the colors right when I took it because of the lighting. But it was one of my favorite in the gallery.

Some sculpture in the Asian Art gallery. I read the sign for this one...apparently this was some temple guardian. Would have kept me away from a temple if I saw this guy coming towards me.

I really like this picture. It's like he's shooting the arrow right at you. Took a few tries to get the focus just right, but I really like how it turned out.

People on the Circle...

Alright so I went downtown after I got off work today and headed to the circle. My goal was to take some pictures of people just doing whatever they do. It was pretty fun and got to talk to some interesting people. While I was there the IPL basement caught on fire so took some pictures of the firefighters hanging out too. Check 'em out!

I'm quite the fan of how the sun looks in this picture of the monument on the circle. And the clouds look pretty cool here too I think.

These are some firefighters that were sitting on the circle when the IPL basement caught on fire. They were pretty funny guys.

Some random girl that I took a picture of. It was fun to hear people's reactions when I asked them if I could take a picture of them.

This lady was really nice. She let me take quite a few pictures of her. These two are my favorites. I like on the upper one how the colors are very warm. On the bottom one if it wasn't for that stupid sign in the background I'd like it a ton more.

War Memorial...

So I decided to go back to the War Memorial on Meridian and take a picture of the other 3 vase statues. I was able to get each of the other three words. They are "Memory" "Courage" and "Liberty". Then using some good old fashioned Photoshop I put those three on the "Victory" vase. I'm really happy with how this came out. Let me know what you think!

Downtown Indy...

The second day I had my camera I decided to go walk around downtown Indy and break it in. I walked from my apartment right on the White River to most of downtown Indy. I took about 100 pictures while walking around for about 3 hours or so. So here's some of my favorite ones I took.
(All of the following pictures were taking with the automatic setting of the Rebel XT. I can't wait to start manipulating the settings myself!)

This was taken at the beginning of the Canal. Just a random piece of architecture but I really like it.

I think that this is my favorite picture of the entire day. This was taken at the Indiana War Memorial Park. There were four of these vase like statues on the corners of the big memorial. Each one had a different word inscribed into them.

This picture was also taken at the IWMP. This is the door to the big memorial. I loved all the intricacies on the door.

This picture was taken on the Circle. I don't ever remember seeing these lampposts before, but they were really interesting. I took a couple shots of this one, but this was my favorite.

On my way back I cut through the Eiteljorg Museum garden. I thought this was a really cool statue. There were plenty of these things just hanging out in the garden.

Here's some stairs on the Canal as I was heading back to my apartment. Nothing spectacular, but I just really like the angle.

Beginnings...

Alright so a couple of days ago I got my new camera. It's a Canon Rebel XT. I'm basically in love with it already. I just figured I would begin sharing some of the pictures I take.

So let the journey begin!
